The primary purpose of establishing the ORNTG is to create a genuine democratic process in Oromia. This will allow the tackling of economic and socio-political issues, the fulfillment of group rights and individual rights, and the addressing of demands for self-governance or self-determination. These demands must be considered in a democratic and peaceful way to end the dictatorial regime and replace it with a democracy that respects the rule of law, and to provide citizens the right to choose their leaders and thereby govern themselves through their democratically elected government.
Establishing the ORNTG will also allow it to become clear to the international community that the recent Oromo revolution, led by peaceful youth known as the Qeerroo, had the outcome of its movement snatched by betrayers and derailed from its intended direction, which has now brought Ethiopia to the brink of disintegration.
